AFU611 Business and Data Analytics is a new module that is integrated into your B.Sc Accounting and Finance degree programme to equip you with the high in-demand skills in the World of data that employers are looking for in recent times.

Businesses and individuals including you are generating enormous amount of data that takes a variety of forms- voice, video, text, pictures, etc. This data carries a lot of sense that if harnessed can significantly change the way we think and do things. For businesses, harnessing this data to extract the 'sense' from it could help them acquire the intelligence that they need to improve operational performance and gain competitive advantage in their industries.

This module is hands-on as it will equip you with the practical and technical skills you need to become a data scientist, data analyst or business intelligent analyst. I therefore, challenge you to roll up your sleeves, work harder, and learn the great data skills that will land you a great job after graduation.

This modules takes learners who have already studied performance and management accounting further into applying the tools and techniques they learned in management accounting to measuring the performance of an organization. Organizations have visions and missions that encapsulate their strategic purposes and goals that they seek to achieve. This module will equip you with the skills you need to identify these strategic goals and develop key performance indicators to help organizations to measure the progress they are making towards achieving their strategic goals.

You will also learn how to develop reports that can demonstrate to all stakeholders how well an organization is doing regarding the achievement of their corporate objectives. This report serves as a means communicating the performance of the organization with all stakeholders. You will learn how to use modern performance management and reporting models like the Balance scorecard (BSC), Objectives and Key results (OKRs), etc.
